DDOT Announces Potholepalooza, a month long campaign to encourage residents and commuters to call or e-mail requests for pothole repairs.  Starting March 11th through April 11th, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), the agency responsible for the repair of potholes for the District, will work to repair identified potholes within 48 hours.

District residents and Commuters can notify DDOT about these hazards in a variety of ways: call the Mayor's Call Center at 311; use the On-line Service Request Center at www.dc.gov ; or send an e-mail to Potholepalooza@dc.gov.  Callers must identify the location including the correct quadrant (northwest, northeast, and southeast, southwest) in the city with as much detail as possible, including the approximate size and depth of the pothole.

The D.C. Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB): released an information alert on new provisions in the recently enacted stimulus law, which amends COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act). COBRA provides certain former employees the right to continue their health insurance coverage at group rates on a temporary basis. A significant provision included in the stimulus law established a new federal subsidy of up to 65 percent the cost of COBRA benefits for up to nine months for eligible employees who involuntarily lose their jobs between Sept. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2009.

In the announcement, also available on DISB's Web site at www.disb.dc.gov, DISB answers key questions such as does the law extend the length of time for the group continuation coverage; where should eligible individuals sign up; and what to do if an employer refuses to provide group continuation coverage. District residents may visit the Web site to read the full announcement. Any resident needing more information on COBRA, please contact DISB at (202) 727-8000.
